Overlaying Past

Interactive Media

in collaboration with:

How can we create a new sequence from past sequences? How could we interact with our past in video? This video shows interactive media developed to explore those questions through movement and visuals.

Using Microsoft Kinect, we captured our actions at different time intervals (10 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 120 seconds, and 180 seconds) and proceeded to overlay past versions of ourselves over our present, real-time identity; allowing us to move in response to the previous iterations of ourselves. The color silhouette displays the present version of the individual while the black and white silhouettes display past versions and past movements.

Expanding on this concept of overlaying our past in the present to create a new experience, what happens if we overlay our visual past in space?
